Explore Prana Through Makeup: A Journey of Self-Expression and Energy
Maintaining the flow of prana, also known as life force energy, is a key component to feeling balanced within your nervous system or chakra system. One question that has been brought to my attention a lot in the span of my career is- “can makeup actually be a part keeping prana flowing?”
I know it sounds WILD and you might be thinking: “Makeup? Prana? How do those even connect?” Well, grab your favorite cup of cacao, tea or coffee because this is one of my favorite conversations! Now, let us clarify something really LOUD before we dive in. I AM NOT saying you should wear makeup or that you have to for prana to flow. I am stating the facts of why and how makeup is a tool to keep prana flowing for those who do feel called to this tool/medium for expression. I have been certified in reiki, energy work and started my licensed esthetician career at Sephora since 2017. This means from my teen years I have personally used this as a tool and I now at 27 do not wear makeup even once a week HOWEVER I LOVE MAKEUP so now that you know where I am coming from let us dive in!
First off, let’s talk about self-expression. Makeup is like a blank canvas where you get to unleash your creativity! Whether you’re rocking a bold lip or a subtle glow, each stroke of your brush tells a story about who you are. And guess what? When you express yourself authentically, it can seriously uplift your mood and energy levels. You’re not just putting on makeup; you’re tapping into your unique essence and letting your inner light shine.
Now, let’s get into the ritual of applying makeup. Have you ever noticed how calming it can be to take those few minutes for yourself each morning? When you approach your makeup routine with mindfulness, it becomes a beautiful ritual. You’re not just slapping on products; you’re connecting with yourself, setting intentions for your day, and cultivating awareness. It’s like a mini meditation that gets your prana flowing!
Did you know makeup has deep cultural and spiritual significance in many traditions? From ancient rituals to modern-day celebrations, it symbolizes beauty, transformation, and even divine energy. By embracing these practices, we can connect to something greater than ourselves, enhancing our sense of purpose and vitality. It’s like wearing a piece of history and spirituality on your face!
Let’s talk about the use of colors! Did you know that the colors you choose can affect your mood and energy? Bright colors can energize you and make you feel vibrant, while soft pastels might bring you a sense of calm. It’s all about choosing what resonates with you in that moment. You can go for blush, a dramatic or light contour/highlight or none at all!
I invite you to tap into your intuition next time you’re picking out your eyeliner or lipstick. Think about how those colors make you feel… When you decide if you are wearing foundation, contour, highlight, or eyeshadow I invite you to explore how they elevate your energy.
That boost in self-esteem can help your prana flow more freely, allowing you to tackle the day with grace and positivity.
So, dear souls, makeup can be so much more than just a beauty routine; it’s a powerful tool for self-expression, mindfulness, and energy flow. Let’s embrace it as part of our journey with prana! Whether you’re a makeup junkie or someone who likes to keep it simple, remember that the most important thing is to feel good and be true to yourself.
I am at a point in my life I enjoy not wearing makeup daily so that when I do it is a treat! However, I also have permanent makeup and receive regular facials now which has boosted my confidence immensely and saves me this time daily. Whenever I am down though I love to use makeup for self expression or to simply feel pretty and cheer me up.

Please use makeup carefully. It can be dangerous. Please remember how bad ass and beautiful you are without makeup. Makeup is fun. Makeup is not necessary.
